Why does St. Augustine Church need this ministry?

Have you ever been the “new kid” at school?  Do you just get energized when you meet new people? The Welcome Team wants to help newcomers experience the warmth and friendliness that characterize the culture of St. Augustine.

What do team members do?

  • Partner with the Ushers and Greeters to greet newcomers as they explore St. Augustine

  • Welcome everyone as they arrive for services

  • Communicate needs and prayer requests to the Pastors

  • Support newcomers as they build relationships and discover ways to participate in the life of St. Augustine

  • Organize or attend social events

Suggested Skills:

  • Friendliness and enthusiasm

  • Good listening and discerning skills

  • A desire to help and serve others;

  • Ages 13 and above are welcome!

Time required:

  • Thirty minutes before service and 20 minutes after service, typically on a rotating basis

  • Bi-monthly or quarterly events, occasional team meetings

Will I work alone or as part of a team?

  • Varies by the task,but usually as a team
