All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching... and training in righteousness,  so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 15-17

Why does St. Augustine Church need this ministry?

The purpose of Sunday School is to welcome children into our Church with weekly sessions that help them understand God's grace.  They will develop a Christian foundation to guide their actions, following the teachings of Jesus.

What do team members do?

  • Teach children the stories and characters of the Bible; encourage discussion

  • Explain Church history, seasons and sacraments

  • Encourage children to apply Christian principles in their everyday lives

  • Present activities such as crafts, drama, songs, etc. to enhance understanding and retention of the lesson

Suggested Skills:

  • Patience, flexibility and punctuality

  • Ability to work with young children

  • Creativity, organizational abilities

Time required:

  • Arrive 20 minutes before the 10 a.m. service to prepare for and greet children

  • Lesson planning time varies with individual teacher

  • Teaching assignments vary with the schedule

  • Occasional workshops

Will I work alone or as part of a team?

  • Teachers and assistants rotate according to schedule
